An investigator says a Bartlesville man who oversaw his grandmother's finances took $493,000 in her bank account for his personal use.
Washington County prosecutors charged Aubin James Cooper, 39, on Wednesday with exploitation of a vulnerable adult and financial neglect of a vulnerable adult.
An arrest affidavit filed with the court stated the 93-year-old victim was Cooper's grandmother who lived in the memory unit of a Bartlesville nursing home.
The district attorney's office began investigating in October 2014 after the nursing home sent Cooper a bill for the victim's care and he failed to respond.
After reviewing the woman's bank account, the affidavit says, investigators discovered a "pattern of suspicious payments and withdrawals had been made" to the account amounting to $493,000.
On Thursday a judge ordered Cooper to be held in the county jail on a $50,000 bond with a court appearance set for July 31.
