The Broken Arrow City Council has announced the two finalists for City Manager position.
In a news release, the two candidates are Larry Mitchell and Michael Spurgeon. Mitchell is currently the Executive Director of the Yukon Economic Development Authority and Michael Spurgeon is currently the Director of Administration for the City of St. Charles, Missouri.
Both men have connections to northeast Oklahoma. Mitchell is a former city manager for Owasso and Okmulgee and Spurgeon is a former city manager of Miami, Oklahoma.
“Members of the Council are extremely optimistic about the final two candidates, who have extensive executive leadership experience,” said Mayor Craig Thurmond.
“The next City Manager plays a critical role in ensuring Broken Arrow continues to provide a high quality of life for residents and competes at the national level to attract new retailers and high-paying employers.”
The city manager's position has been vacant for almost a year.
