Grove Woman Recovering After Grand Lake Boat Explosion

We're learning new information about a 20-year-old Grove woman badly burned in a boat explosion on Grand Lake on the Fourth of July.

Rosalynn Yates' parents say she has third-degree burns on her legs and will need many surgeries.

In a statement they told News On 6:

"Our daughter Rosalynn Yates was one of nine individuals injured when the boat caught fire on Saturday, July 4, near Tera Miranda on Monkey Island.

As of Tuesday, July 7, doctors continue to treat her for third-degree burns on much of her legs, between her upper thighs and the pads of her feet.

We realize the road to recovery will be long, and at times painful, however, we know that Rosalynn is a determined young woman who will strive to get well.

While Rosalynn's injuries require hospitalization, and additional surgeries, we also realize there are eight other people who were injured in the incident. Their injuries are no less severe than Rosalynn's, simply because they do not require extensive hospitalization.

We ask people to continue to pray for Rosalynn and for all of the families impacted by the three July 4 incidents on Grand Lake and Lake Hudson.

Thank you for your concerns, prayers and kind words for our daughter's recovery."

Yates was one of nine people injured when the boat they were on exploded after getting fuel on Monkey Island.

A Go Fund Me website has been set up to help with her medical expenses.
