People living in Owasso will soon have a new way to combat unwanted solicitors who knock on their doors. The city recently amended the solicitor’s ordinance to include a "No knock list."
Under the ordinance, all people would have to do to keep unwanted for profit solicitors knocking on your door is sign up for free service.
There are some allowances though - charity organizations like youth groups and church groups won't be barred from knocking.
The city said this works because all for profit solicitors have to get a permit to go door to door. With that, they are given a copy of the "No knock list."
"This is an added layer of safety protection for them so they feel Owasso is a good place to live and that the city is a good partner and a neighbor," said Chelsea Levo with the City of Owasso.
If a solicitor is found to be knocking on your door they run the risk of being fined or lose their license.
The ordinance change goes into effect August 1.
