There's something new at LaFortune Park and it may be just the thing to help you find the perfect four-legged companion.
The new Animal Rescue Foundation Adoption Center at LaFortune Park is right alongside the trail and overlooks the par 3 golf course. In fact it used to be the golf shop for the par 3 course; ARF rescued the building from demolition.
"Just a nice place for people to come meet the dogs," Jaynie Ozment said. “We have been foster home based for the last 20 years.”
ARF has always had to have an adoption event or one of their days at the Tulsa PetsMart stores to show the animals off.
This, however, is permanent; drive up and come in, or, if you’re on the trail, stop in.
It’s not a shelter, so the dogs and cats go back to their foster homes each night.
ARF is working out details of a plan to let people check out a dog on a nice day - take it for a walk, a little bonding time.
But the most important thing, according to Ozment is, “When you adopt one, you save two,” she said.
She said you save the one you adopted and one who takes its place in the system.
The Adoption Center is open Wednesday through Sunday. You can learn more by visiting the ARF website.
