The Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs delivered nearly 3,000 pounds of old and expired home medications to Tulsa's trash to energy plant Monday morning for destruction.

The agency has 176 disposal boxes set up in law enforcement lobbies across the state.

The OBN says since 2011, they've collected nearly 85,000 pounds of old and expired home medication that could be targeted by teens or friends/relatives with an addiction when left sitting in home medicine cabinets.

The agency takes the drugs to the Covanta Energy plant in west Tulsa who converts them to clean energy at no cost to Oklahoma.

To find the disposal box near your community, visit the OBN's website.
