The group pushing for a grand jury investigation of the Tulsa County Sheriff's Office and Sheriff Stanley Glanz said they have the signatures to get it, but it still might take a month to start.

The group, We The People, started the petition after Reserve Deputy Bob Bates shot and killed Eric Harris.

We The People Oklahoma needed 5,000 signatures; they've surpassed that but aren't stopping yet.

The group is continuing to ask for signatures in an attempt to show how many people want a grand jury investigation.

Each signature must be verified by the Tulsa County Election Board, ensuring that at least 5,000 of the 6,000 signatures collected belong to people living in Tulsa County.

The petition could then go to a judge who could convene a grand jury.

The leader of We The People Oklahoma, Marq Lewis, said the recent resignations and firings within the sheriff's office do not make a big enough difference and they still say, "Glanz has got to go."

“It's not just about getting the bare minimum it's about exceeding the odds. In the beginning, no one gave us a fair opportunity anyway, so we need to prove to them that we are citizens, and we believe in what's right and we can do this," Lewis said.

We The People Oklahoma is hosting more petition signature drives across Tulsa and plans to turn in the petition June 19, 2015.
