Police say a motorcycle rider died after he was hit by a car Monday night.

The crash occurred in the 12100 block of East 31st Street about a half a mile east of Garnett just before 9:30 p.m.

Officers said the driver of the car, 19-year-old Nely Aguilar Patzan, ran away but they caught up with her several blocks from the crash. Witnesses told police Patzan was headed east on 31st Street when she turned left in front of a westbound motorcycle and it hit the passenger side of the car.

Officers said 42-year-old Kenneth Jorgenson of Sapulpa was pronounced dead a short time later. They said he was not wearing a helmet.

Police said Patzan told officers she ran because she was scared. Police booked Patzan into the Tulsa County jail on complaints of 1st-degree manslaughter, hit and run injury crash, no driver's license and failure to yield.

Jail records show she was being held without bond with a court appearance set for June 16.
