Saturday was a good day to be a Ram, as the Owasso baseball team won the 6A state title over Westmoore. The 9-8 win made state championship number 13 for Owasso baseball.
"We're squeezing there early on, just trying to keep the pressure on,” said Owasso head coach Larry Turner. “Every opportunity we had to score a run we were trying to get one out, because we weren't sure how much, how far our pitching would go today. We just [had] to use staff and by golly it worked."
Sometimes baseball is a game with a lot of superstitions so you need your good luck charm, but you may also need skill and to thank the man above.
After Parker Dunn's go ahead two RBI single, he definitely was thanking the man above. “I don't even know how to say anything about it,” said Dunn. “I mean, I'm speechless. My Lord, my savior Jesus Christ had my back with that. [He] blessed our team [and] blessed our abilities. You know, I'm just very blessed to play the game of baseball."
Owasso has had plenty of talent, but this might have been the most satisfying win of them all. "I think this is the best coaching job my assistants have ever done,” said Turner. “I mean no doubt about it. It's really special. It's really cool."
