Law enforcement officers carried the Special Olympics torch to the annual summer games at Oklahoma State University and other locations in Stillwater on Wednesday.

Tulsa area runners began their trek to Stillwater at 6th and Main in downtown Tulsa with the "Flame of Hope."

The annual Law Enforcement Torch Run was started in 1986 and features runners starting in Tulsa, Oklahoma City, Lawton, McAlester, Pauls Valley and Duncan.

Along each route, a number of police, sheriff, highway patrol as well as others participate.

The culmination of all the runs is the opening ceremonies where the torch bearers use the “Flame of Hope” to light the Oklahoma Special Olympics Summer Games cauldron.
