Topeca Coffee in Tulsa just opened its new training lab to educate professionals on how to brew coffee. It's kind of like a training kitchen for coffee.
The training facility includes a 2,500-square-foot lab at the Roastery, 1229 East Admiral Boulevard.
They are teaching new baristas how to brew under the Specialty Coffee Association of America standards. They also offer professional certificate programs for roasters, coffee tasters, buyers and technicians, according to Ian Picco,
"Topeca Instruments Division will be the first SCAA Regional Teaching Lab to offer these training programs on a frequent and continual basis, said Director of Coffee Ian Picco.
Topeca is also offering home brewing classes and coffee house entrepreneurs. It held its first "Latte Art Throwdown" at the new facility over the weekend.
Classes will start in May.
The company hopes the lab will broaden their exposure in the coffee industry, and increase opportunities in Tulsa for education and business.
