The doors are about to open on the first QuikTrip in Muskogee in over 30 years.

Wednesday, QuikTrip held a ribbon cutting for the new store. Mike Thornbrugh said it's a big deal coming back to Muskogee.

“The reason we're back is really, is because the people of Muskogee were relentless – phone calls and emails, ‘Please come back to Muskogee,'” he said.

The new store is sporting a new design. It included the QuikTrip Kitchen, weighing scales for trucks and a split canopy filling station.

“Once we make a decision we're gonna go to a new design, we're gonna go. I mean that's quite obvious; but it gave us a chance to do some things that you don't normally see,” said Thornbrugh.

The new store was scheduled to open at 6:00 Thursday morning, but Thornbrugh said technical difficulties have delayed the opening.

They hope to open sometime Thursday.
