A Tulsa woman went to the store and came back home to find her apartment on fire, with a pet trapped inside. Emergency crews were called to the Polo Run Apartments, 6914 South Joplin, around 11:30 p.m. Friday.

"The occupant advised us she had a cat inside," said Tulsa Fire Captain Danny Kiser. "We located the cat unharmed."

Kiser said the apartment was on the third floor on the back side of the complex, so there were some access problems. They had to extend hose to the third floor, dragging it around cars to the back side of the building.

Fire crews made a quick attack and were able to contain the fire to the single unit.

The room and its contents were damaged, and the woman and her daughter would have to find another place to stay, Kiser said. The Tulsa-Area Red Cross was helping them.

An investigator was working to learn the cause of the fire.
