Man Wounded In Tulsa Police Officer-Involved Shooting

Tulsa Police say a man is in the hospital after he was shot by an officer early Friday. 

Officers were called at 1 a.m. to the Open World Garden Apartments in the 5400 block of South Lewis about a disturbance.

Police said two officers arrived and found a man inside one of the apartments walking towards them holding a knife. Captain Thomas Bell said after the man refused repeated commands to drop the knife, one of the officers fired two shots, hitting the man once in the leg. 

The unidentified man was taken by EMSA to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Captain Bell says neither officer was injured. 

An investigation into the disturbance and shooting continues.
