Tahlequah police arrested a teen in connection with a string of arsons.

Police arrested 19-year-old Daniel Beaty Tuesday afternoon after, they said, Dollar General surveillance video caught Beaty setting fire to a trash bin Monday night.

Tuesday, when fire crews released the video, they identified Beaty as the suspect.

Police said he confessed to setting around 40 fires over the past two years.

Fire Chief Ray Hammons said they've investigated 12 arsons since January.

Even though police said Beaty confessed to so many, most of them may have gone unreported, so he may only face charges in about two dozen fires.

Investigators said everything from grass to trash bins to a house used for storage were set on fire.

Beaty's being held in the Cherokee County jail. His bond hearing is set for Wednesday morning.
