Spring Break Gets Off To Wet Start In NE Oklahoma

Spring break is off to a wet start. Don't worry though, conditions will dry up by the end of the weekend and leave us with a few days of nice weather to enjoy.

Our rain maker today has been a low pressure system originating from the Gulf of Mexico. It's been pushing rain northward as it tracks slowly to the northeast. A warm front extending off of the eastern side of the low its self will be the focal point of most activity, including storms. 

Lucky for us, that will be well to our east as the surface low will be positioned near the Oklahoma Arkansas state line before moving eastward by Saturday morning.

We will start to see rain tapering off in the morning. Folks in southeastern Oklahoma will see the heavier rainfall ending later this evening but not before 1 to 2 inches of rain have fallen. Above is a look at estimated rainfall totals by Saturday morning. Localized flooding could become a problem, especially for small creeks and streams. 

You'll want to pay special attention to low lying areas that are prone to flooding. As always, don't drive through water. The future view image shows showers winding down but there could still be a few in far eastern Oklahoma during the morning and afternoon. 

We should see a little sun in the afternoon and warmer afternoon highs in the mid-60s.
