Okmulgee County Sheriff Eddie Rice says his department is investigating after human remains were found behind a motel in Henryetta.
Henryetta Police were called to the Trail Motel around 3:30 p.m. Saturday, March 7, 2015, after someone found the body of a woman. Okmulgee News Network reports that the woman's body was behind a pile of asphalt and was not easily visible.
Rice said the body was partially decomposed and has not been identified. There were no obvious signs of foul play. The body may have been there for as much as a month.
Deputies were called in because the motel is just outside the city limits.
"Investigators processed and investigated the crime scene, and the body was later released to the Oklahoma Medical Examiner's Office for post mortem examination and proper identification," he said in a news release.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the Okmulgee County Sheriff's Office at 918-756-4311. If you wish to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 918-516-8332.
