Troopers say a driver is dead in a collision with a disabled van on the shoulder of eastbound Highway 412 in Sand Springs. The wreck took place near the exit to 81st West Avenue.

A Sand Springs resident driving a Chevrolet Impala left the highway and struck a silver Dodge mini van early Monday morning, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Officials have not yet released the victim's name as they are working to notify next of kin.

The van was on a jack with the right rear wheel removed. No one was in or around the disabled vehicle.

Authorities aren't sure what caused the Impala driver to leave the roadway. The point of impact was to the left front side of the sedan, so the driver was significantly off the highway.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol will be investigating to try to determine why the driver ran off the road.
