Tulsa Police are investigating a crash that caught a car on fire and damaged public property early Saturday morning. A passerby reporting seeing the burning car on the Pine Street exit of the southbound LL Tisdale Expressway just before 6 a.m.

Firefighters and police responded to the scene.

A Tulsa officers approached the car with a fire extinguisher to look for possible victims but said the flames were too heavy to gain access to the car until firefighters arrived. They put out the fire and found that whoever wrecked the car was no longer around.

Police say the driver apparently ran off the road to the left after exiting onto Pine, overcorrected and swerved back to the right side of the road. The car slid into a light pole before coming to a stop.

There were no reports of the car being stolen, police say.
