Police are looking for a driver who ran away after crashing a Ford pickup truck into the back of a west Tulsa home early Friday.

Officers said the crash happened in the 4900 block of South 24th West Avenue near Union just before 6:30 a.m.

They said it appears the driver missed a curve, crashed through a backyard fence and into the home.  Police say a relative told them the homeowner recently passed away and the home was vacant.

Tulsa firefighters had to secure the home before a wrecker was able to pull the pickup truck out of the back of the home.

The homeowners son said he had a vintage 1969 Shelby parked in the garage and took it out before the pickup was pulled from the home.

"Extremely lucky that nobody was hurt. It hit the garage, barely missed a 1969 Shelby that the owner of the house holds very dear," said Tulsa Police officer Doug Chism.

Police believe the pickup truck was stolen, but they are still checking.
