Authorities say drinking and driving played a role in a wreck where a man ran into the back of a semi truck. The collision took place just before 1 a.m. on Interstate 44 at 129th East Avenue.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers say Tulsa resident Brett Lowe was westbound on the highway when a semi truck driver slowed to avoid a vehicle in the roadway. Lowe, who was driving a Nissan pickup, hit the truck from behind.

The investigating trooper said the 43-year-old Lowe had been drinking. The semi truck driver, 59-year-old Cordell Boler of Columbia, Maryland, was uninjured.

Lowe was taken to a Tulsa hospital where he is said to be stable with head and other injuries.
