The NEO Lady Norse basketball team is set to host its annual Pink game on Thursday night against Murray State.
The “Go Pink ot Go Home” theme is part of the nation-wide breast cancer awareness event. All fans are encouraged to wear pink to support the cause.
During the event, the team will auction off a pink basketball signed by both of the program's basketball teams, and a pink backpack from Midwest Sporting Goods.
“Each year our Lady Norse host a Pink game to honor all those who have been affected by breast cancer,” said Lady Norse head coach Jim Rowland. “This disease affects women of all ages across the world. Unfortunately, most of us have known someone who has been affected in some way. This is one way we can honor these amazing ladies.”
There will be decorated bras on display at the game. The bras were made by organizations from NEO, along with community members, in efforts to raise money. People can vote for their favorite bra(s) by donating money. The bra that raises the most money will be named the winner at halftime.
The coaches will then wear the top 12 bras (that raised the most money). “It's a fun time for a great cause, so I am happy to participate in this event,” said NEO head football coach Ryan Held. “Last year, there were some pretty innovative and creative bras, so I am anxious to see what they come up with this year. We hope everyone will come out and support this very worthy cause.”
The game is scheduled to tip off at 6:00 p.m. in the NEO Gym.
