Sapulpa Man Charged With First-Degree Murder In Death Of 3-Year-Old

Creek County prosecutors filed a first-degree murder charge against a Sapulpa man in the death of his girlfriend's three-year-old son. 

Sapulpa Police arrested Christopher Whinery, 29, on a child abuse complaint on January 15, 2014.

Detectives said 3-year-old Jason White died at a Tulsa hospital from blunt force trauma to the head, as well as being shaken.

Police were initially called to the home after Whinery called 911. He told officers Jason had been jumping on a bed, fell and hit his head.

Whinery is being held in the Creek County jail without bond pending a court hearing scheduled for Tuesday.
