Tulsa Police say five teens in a stolen SUV led officers on a high-speed chase across the city.

Officers said the chase ended when the stolen Ford Escape crashed through a locked gate and into a pole in front of the Jackson Elementary School in the 2100 block of North Pittsburgh.

Police said the chase began at 36th and Garnett at about 3 a.m. when an officer attempted to stop the vehicle for a traffic violation.  Officers said speeds during the chase reached 80 miles per hour as it wound through Tulsa.

There were five teens in the Escape, four males and one female, according to police.

After the crash, the driver jumped out and ran but police caught him a short distance away. Police took all five into custody. No one was hurt.
