Quick response from Tulsa fire crews appears to have contained an apartment fire in south Tulsa. Tulsa Fire Department was called to the Shadow Mountain Apartments near 61st and Memorial just after 9 a.m. for a fire in an upstairs unit.
Not much smoke has been visible, but a large number of fire trucks were called to the scene, parked on the south side of the complex on 61st.
Crews laid water lines and shut power off to the affected apartments. The fire appears to be contained to one section of the complex with eight to 10 studio units.
Firefighters can be seen carrying musical instruments from one of the apartments in some web extra video shot by resident John Bayhi, a producer at News On 6.
Nearby apartments were evacuated, but residents have been allowed to return to most of the apartments. Officials told them to check their apartments for smoke and water damage.
Bayhi said firefighters believe the fire may have started in an attic or roof. No injuries have been reported.
The Red Cross has been called to help those displaced by the fire. No word yet on when utilities will be restored.
