Tulsa Police Arrest Man For Murder After Mother Contradicts Alibi

Tulsa Police arrested a 24-year-old man Sunday in connection with a fatal shooting at an east Tulsa apartment complex in late December.

Police booked Demario Bethany into jail on a first-degree murder complaint Sunday afternoon. Officers said an investigation into the shooting on December 29, 2014 led them to Bethany.

Courtney Parks, 26, was shot and killed outside the Plaza Hills East Apartment Complex near 129th East Avenue and 15th Street.

Bethany told detectives he was at his mother's apartment at the time of the shooting, but his mother contradicted that.

Police said Bethany sent Parks a text to lure him to the complex and rob him. Detectives recovered an orange sweatshirt a witness told police Bethany was wearing at the scene of the shooting.

Police said five bullets were recovered from the victim's body.

Demario Bethany is being held in the Tulsa County jail without bond.
