Two Wagoner police officers were recognized for their work in saving a 13-month-old baby.

Last month, Officer Andrew Evans got the call that a truck had flipped off Highway 69, near the Red Barn. When he got there, he found the truck underwater.

A man and woman inside had made it out, but their 13-month-old was stuck in his car seat.

Officer Andrews pulled the child out safely and handed him off to Wagoner officer Donnie Cox, who started CPR.

The two men were given Life Saver Awards by their chief Monday night.

Evans said, while it's nice to be recognized, he's already got his reward.

"It feels great. I'm honored that the city has taken the time and the chief has given us the reward, but the real reward is seeing that baby back to life and unharmed," he said.

The officers formed an instant bond with the family; the parents already invited them on a hunting and fishing trip.
