A bike shop owner says his business was attacked by vandals, and he's not sure why he was targeted.
The man who owns the shop has been in the busy Bixby shopping center for about eight months now, and business is going great. He can't figure out why vandals would strike his place .Windows shattered at Bixby Bicycle Works on East 111th Street around 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Spotty surveillance video shows what appears to be two men smashing in windows, throwing something inside and taking off.
"A diesel soaked rag that was apparently lit for a second maybe, it didn't catch fire, but according to the fire marshal it was lit and thrown into, under the clothing area,” Bixby Bicycles owner Buster Brown said.
It was a crime Brown can't figure out, especially since nothing was taken.
"I don't know, I'm trying to figure that out myself,” he said. “You know, I just hope that it was random, but it doesn't appear to be random."
Cyclists who ride to shop say they can't believe what they saw on the video.
"You're like really? Wow. That's pretty, pretty gutsy. You know, just to be able to do that. But yea, I'm very disappointed," cyclist Paul Bush said.
"I'm mad, yeah, I'm upset about it,” Brown Said. “More than that, if it's somebody that I know or have known in the past or knows me, that will they come back and do it again? I don't know."
Brown hopes getting the images out there will stir up the memory of someone who may have seen something suspicious around his store that night and that they'll come forward.
Bixby police and the Bixby fire marshal are investigating.
