Tulsa police have released the names of the officer and suspect involved in Thursday's midtown shooting.

Police said Michael Muehlberg, 30, attempted to rob the Check 'n Go at 3712 East 51st Street.

According to police, officer Sherron Jones, 47, entered the store as the robbery was in progress and said she shot Muehlberg as he reached for his gun.

Reports say after he was shot, Muehlberg ran out of the store where he eventually surrendered.

Officers said his gun looked real, but turned out to be a pellet gun.

According to police, Muehlberg was shot in the shoulder and the bullet went through his neck and out of his ear.

He is expected to survive.

Sources said Jones responded to the silent alarm that was tripped by employees after Muehlberg demanded employees empty the till and open the safe. They said a ten minute delay in the opening of the safe allowed them to trip the alarm.

Jones was not injured in the shooting.

As a routine procedure, she is on leave pending the results of the investigation.

Police said Jones was hired in June of 1996.
