OSU men's basketball will be taking on Southeastern Louisiana at the Gallagher-Iba Arena in Stillwater Friday, November 14 at 7:00 p.m. This will be the first regular season game for the Cowboys.
The Cowboys won their last exhibition game against Missouri Western, 74-35. OSU's senior wing Le'Bryan Nash kicked of his season with a double-double. He scored 11 points, and had 11 rebounds within 23 minutes of the game. Anthony Hickey also had 11 points, and 5 steals.
Oklahoma State initially got off to a slow start only putting 5 points on the board in the first five minutes. They soon picked up their pace, gaining a bigger lead over the Griffons. The Cowboys held the Griffons to single digits for the first 14 minutes of the game. Later in the second half the Cowboys took a massive lead over Missouri Western, so they gave the team's new comers a chance to showcase their talents.
Jeff Newberry, a redshirt junior, entered the game and hit a jumper, increasing the cowboys lead by 24. After that OSU quickly escalated their lead to over 30 points. The final 14 minutes of the game was mostly played by transfers, walk-ons, and freshman, whom all got the opportunity to run the floor.
OSU senior Michael Cobbins did not take part in the game, due to playing in two regular season games as a redshirt. The incidents took place a few years ago, and the NCAA has concluded that he must sit out four games. Cobbins has sat his one exhibition game, now he has to sit three regular season games as well.
