People who live in downtown Tulsa opened their doors today for the second "Dwell in the IDL" tour on Sunday.
The Tulsa Foundation for Architecture organized the tour of eight downtown residences, including some in historic buildings.
Even though it was commonplace for decades -- with downtown Tulsey Town a bustling place with folks living, working, shopping and eating downtown -- the foundation says people are surprised that so many people live inside the IDL in 2014.
Organizers say the tour is also a way to highlight a commute-free lifestyle inside the inner-dispersal loop.
"People are discovering the beauty of living where they work, and this is a perfect opportunity for someone that works downtown to end the commute and live where they work,” Tulsa Foundation for Architecture's Rex Brown said.
Brown also said high-end residential development is the first step to attracting shopping and grocery stores to downtown.
