Search Underway For Southeast Oklahoma Prison Escapee

Authorities are looking for an escapee from a prison near Atoka in southeastern Oklahoma. 

The Department of Corrections say 49-year-old Stephen Shorey was reported missing at a 7 p.m. check at the Howard Mcleod Correctional Center Thursday. 

Shorey was serving a 10 year prison sentence out of Creek County for a child sexual abuse conviction.

Prison officials say a suspicious SUV was seen outside the minimum security prison at about the time of Shorey's disappearance.  They say Shorey may be in a 2010 Chevrolet HHR with Missouri tag FJ7-H27.   Shorey is 5'11", 180 pounds with black hair and blue eyes.
