Tulsa Police arrested a man for driving a stolen vehicle after finding him hiding in a trash container Wednesday night.

The incident began when police were called to the 500 block of North Sheridan about a stolen 2002 GMC Yukon. Several hours later, officers spotted the stolen Yukon and stopped it in the 3300 block of North Lansing Place.

Police said the driver, 34-year-old Tony Crook, got out of the SUV and ran away.

Police called out several K-9 officers and the department's helicopter to search for Crook.

Sergeant Bryan Blair said a K-9 officer found Crook hiding in a trash can near Kenosha and 32nd Place North. Police said during the arrest, one of the K-9 officers bit Crook. EMSA paramedics treated Crook for the dog bite before police took him to jail.

Police questioned a woman who was in the GMC Yukon and released her.

Officers booked Crook into the Tulsa County jail on complaints of possession of a stolen vehicle and resisting arrest. Jail records show he has a court appearance set November 6, 2014.
