Adult Halloween Costumes Being Marketed To Tulsa Teens

Halloween is getting sexier, and one local costume store admitted that adult costumes are being marketed to teens.

Spirit Halloween has your typical Minnie Mouse, Ninja Turtles, witch and vampire costumes, but it also has some new ones that you might not want to see on your daughter.

Some stores are selling adult costumes to teenage girls - with minor changes.

Spirit Halloween Assistant Manager Brittany Tillman pointed out a few of those changes on a teen "Officer Bombshell" costume made by Leg Avenue.

"Like the skirt will be longer, there's no V-neck on it, it comes up much higher, there's more buttons, more stuff around the waist," Tillman explained.

She said many adults end up buying the less-revealing teen costumes.

She also said Spirit Halloween has a variety.

"We're trying to represent the more wholesome family store, so we keep all of our more risqué costumes back here by the dressing rooms," Tillman said.

That's where you'll find corsets, bras and a stripper set.

In the girls section are costumes like Lace Vampiress, Wick'd Wolf, Wild Cat and Zebralicious.

Parent Harmony Doherty said, "I don't know if I want my kids to go door to door in something that shows the unmentionables."

Doherty said she and her teenage daughter spend weeks planning their costumes. Last year her daughter was a dead Prom Queen and avoided the sexy store-bought get-up.

"You can't get an alternative. Everything's too short, too low," she said.

Women and girls are showing their strength this year, Spirit Halloween said it's selling a lot of super hero costumes to females.

It also is selling out of anything based on the Disney movie Frozen; that's the hot costume this year.
