Tulsa's K-9 unit helped catch five people who ran from a stolen car this afternoon in North Tulsa. The TPD helicopter unit found the stolen car and were flying above when the young men jumped out and scattered.
From there, it was a great team effort between the gang unit, the north-side street officers, the fugitive squad, chopper and K-9 unit.
It didn't take long before all five suspects were in custody and on their way to jail. Police say one had been hiding in a tree line. He was missing a shoe when they found him.
They say the other four tried to hide as well, but between the police helicopter overhead and two K-9 units tracking them on the ground, their freedom lasted only about an hour.
Officers will go through the car, looking for evidence. They had believed guns were in the car, but didn't find any.
We will learn the extent of the charges they face, once they are booked into jail and we'll keep you posted.
One neighbor poked her head out the door to ask me if they'd all been captured and when I told her yes, you could see the relief on her face.
