Corporal Michael Mahan says Gandy and 40-year-old Darian Jefferson were arguing, and their fight turned into a physical altercation. Gandy reportedly shot Jefferson once in the chest with a .40-caliber handgun.

Police questioned Gandy at the scene, but he first denied any knowledge of the incident. He later turned himself in at the Police Department.
