Police have reopened eastbound Broken Arrow Expressway after an injury wreck snarled traffic under the Highway 169 overpass. The chain-reaction wreck happened during rush hour traffic Tuesday morning.
Authorities say a car shifted lanes at the last minute to merge and pulled into the pathway of a motorcycle. The motorcyclist had to lay his bike down to avoid hitting the car.
He has some road rash but did not have to be taken to the hospital.
A woman behind him slammed on her brakes to avoid hitting the motorcyclist, but a box truck slammed into her from behind.
Police estimate her Ford Focus was struck at about 40 to 45 mph. She was taken to the hospital.
"The driver of the car was transported with non life-threatening injuries, but it was just a big mess. Especially where it was located," said Corporal Brian Collum, Tulsa Police.
The driver of the box truck was cited for inattentive driving, according to police.
The car that merged, causing the chain reaction wreck, kept going.
