A line of moderate to severe thunderstorms pushed out of central Oklahoma into the Tulsa area early Friday, producing lightning and heavy rain.
The National Weather Service put counties on either side of the Kansas-Oklahoma state line under a flash flood watch until Friday afternoon.Overnight showers and thunderstorms have dumped over 3 inches of rain across southeastern Kansas and northeastern Oklahoma. Counties included in the watch include Chautauqua and Montgomery in Kansas and Craig, Delaware, Mayes, Nowata, Osage, Rogers and Washington in Oklahoma.
According to Oklahoma Mesonet, several cities in Craig, Ottawa and Washington counties have received five inches or more of rain in the past 24 hours.
At 10:30 a.m. Friday, Mesonet rain gauge at Copan in northern Washington County was 5.64 inches. The Vinita gauge in Craig County stood at 5.60 inches and Miami in Ottawa County rain gauge was 5.06 inches. The Nowata Mesonet rain gauge in Nowata County was 4.55 inches.

News On 6 meteorologist Alan Crone says all this rain is ahead of a cold front approaching from the west. He says these showers and thunderstorms are producing rainfall amounts that could reach 4 inches in some areas. A few of the storms Friday morning could produce some gusty winds, lightning, small hail and heavy downpours.

Crone says southeast Kansas and northeast Oklahoma could see a break midday Friday with showers developing Friday afternoon across southern Oklahoma.
He says Friday night football games will more than likely be wet and cool with winds out of the north. Game time temperatures are forecast to be in the 50's across eastern Oklahoma.
