A federal judge sentenced a Rogers County man for making a threat against the president of the United States.

Hunter Lee Hines, 19, was an inmate in the Rogers County Jail in Claremore when he mailed a threatening letter to the president of the United States on December 15, 2013. The jail notified the Secret Service.

Hines had been arrested in May of 2013 for hiding a 12-year-old girl with whom he'd run away. In May of 2014, a jury acquitted him of rape and lewd molestation charges in the case, but convicted him of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and breaking and entering. A judge sentenced him to a year in the county jail on those charges.

The federal judge sentenced him to six months in jail to run concurrently with his Rogers County convictions. The federal judge also sentenced him to three years of probation after his release.
