A Broken Arrow police officer was honored for her work against domestic violence in the month set aside to bring awareness to the issue.
The Broken Arrow Police Department announced Monday that Criminal Investigator Gayla Adcock was named Oklahoma's Law Enforcement Officer of the Year for excellence in action against domestic violence.
Adcock was presented with the reward at the State Capital on behalf of the Oklahoma Coalition Against Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault, the Office of the Attorney General, the Oklahoma District Attorneys Council, the Department of Human Services and the Native Alliance Against Violence, a news release said.
They said this was the seventh year of the award presentation.
Adcock also received a citation for 2014 Law Enforcement of the Year from the Oklahoma House of Representatives and signed by Governor Fallin.
