It has been a hot weekend, and it appears we're looking at more hot weather for the next few days before a minor cool down approaches the region later this week. Temperatures today and tomorrow may hit the triple digits again with heat index values around 100 to 105. Heat advisories may be required for a few locations today and tomorrow. Any showers or storms will be isolated in nature during the next few days and mainly away from eastern OK.

The mid-level ridge of high pressure is still in control. This ridge may change shape during the next 48 hours, but the main impact of the ridge keeping us high and dry will remain for most of the state. Some data support a few showers or storms sneaking into far southeastern OK and extreme northwestern OK during the next day or so, but no major weather maker will be arriving until later in the week.
The medium data support the ridge flattening by Thursday and Friday. The upper air flow will bring a disturbance across the western U.S. and into the central plains states Friday into the weekend. As this system nears the area, we'll start seeing a few showers or storms nearing our part of the state. The higher probability will remain for Friday into Saturday, but we could see a few spotty showers or storms by Thursday across the area. It's unclear if Sunday will end up with a decent shot of showers or storms, as the system may be exiting the region by Sunday morning. The data also supports the system weakening as it moves across the central plains states. Another longer and stronger wave may near during the next 10 days.
Temperatures today and tomorrow will remain around 100 with morning lows in the upper 70s. A gradual decrease in both afternoon and morning temps will be experienced by Thursday into the weekend. A few spots may drop into the 80s for highs by the end of the week.
