Two out-of-state bicyclists were hospitalized on Wednesday when a car hit them from behind on U.S. Highway 64, a mile west of the Muskogee Turnpike.

According to a Oklahoma Highway Patrol report, a westbound 2006 Buick driven by 44-year-old Brenna Hyslop, of Kingfisher, struck a bicycle, which struck another bicycle just before 1 p.m.

Madeline Templeton, 22, of Arlington, Virginia, and Abigail Donoghue, 19, of Barrington, Illinois, both were taken to a Muskogee County hospital. Templeton had leg and head injuries and Donoghue had leg injuries. Both are said to be stable, OHP said.

The report says Hyslop was in normal condition and the cause of the collision was due to inattention, a distraction from outside the vehicle.

Both cyclists were wearing helmets and Hyslop was using a seatbelt, the trooper said.
