Tulsa mayor Dewey Bartlett joined hundreds of volunteers Wednesday making deliveries for Meals On Wheels of Metro Tulsa.
The service provides a meal each weekday to about 1,000 home-bound elderly and disabled people.
Bartlett hopes his participation will encourage others to step forward. It takes about 250 volunteers each day to make food deliveries in the Tulsa area.
Meals on Wheels Director Dan Rabovski said, "We know that there are more people who need Meals On Wheels, and as the numbers continue to grow, of course the need for volunteers continues to grow."
