Tulsa Man Beaten With Metal Pole And Concrete Chunks

A man is recovering in a Tulsa hospital after being beaten in what police said was a vicious attack early Wednesday.

Tulsa Police said the incident occurred in the middle of the street at 17th and Southwest Boulevard just after midnight.

Officers said EMSA paramedics drove up on the assault and called for police. The paramedics said they saw a man beating another man in the head and upper body with a four-foot metal pipe and concrete chunks. When they yelled at the attacker he ran away, leaving the victim unconscious.

Paramedics gave police officers a description of the attacker and police found him a few minutes later walking east on 17th Street.

Police arrested Noris Wilson, 53. Police said he had blood on his shirt, pants and shoes. Officers said Wilson became "belligerent, verbally combative and physically resistive" as they arrested him. 

Police said two other witnesses identified Wilson as the attacker.

Tulsa Police said Wilson tested positive for alcohol and marijuana at a local hospital before being booked into the Tulsa County jail.

He is being held on a complaint of assault with a deadly weapon.

Tulsa Police said medical personnel told them the victim had serious injuries but expected him to survive.
