News On 6 has learned new information about a murder suspect arrested in Green Country for a 10-year old Louisiana cold case.

For years, Jake Robinson has been living undetectable in Claremore, but now he is in jail after a secret indictment out of Caddo Parish, Louisiana.

For a decade, Caddo Parish, Louisiana sheriff's detectives have worked to solve Bruce Cotton's murder.

New information led them Robinson, who has been living for years with his girlfriend in Claremore.

Robinson was arrested at an apartment by Claremore officers who are part of the U.S. Marshal's task force.

"Wasn't combative, hostile or belligerent, just resigned to the fact that we're here," Claremore Police Chief Stan Brown said.

Robinson is in the Rogers County jail on a $500,000 bond as a fugitive from justice, awaiting extradition to Louisiana to face a second-degree murder charge.

In February 2004, two boys were fishing and found Cotton's car on the side of a road, with his body inside.

Publicity on last year's anniversary of the murder generated new information that led to Robinson.

"If this person is guilty and is found guilty, of the crime he is alleged to have committed, I don't think anyone could argue with the fact that it's a good thing to get him off our streets and away from the public," Brown said.

Brown credits good police work in Louisiana and teamwork for the arrest.

The victim's son says he and his dad were very close, but the arrest doesn't give much comfort.

"Really this is not a relief to me because my dad's not here," he said. "I can't bring him back, nobody can bring him back. I just pray to the good Lord that he's in heaven, looking down on me."

Police say they've known Robinson was in Claremore since 2007, when officers assisted U.S. Marshal's with getting a DNA sample from him in a separate case.

But he has kept a low profile.

"We've not had any contact with mister Robinson, not so much as a disturbance complaint or a traffic citation," Brown said. "Haven't had contact with him for any reason."

Brown says Robinson even applied for a custodian position at Claremore schools, but within a few days, a background check showed past convictions and Robinson was never employed around children.

Police also suspected Robinson in a 1983 murder.

Another man was convicted of the crime and spent decades on death row in Louisiana, before being released when new information came to light in the case.

A murder charge in that case against Robinson was eventually dismissed.
