Colds, allergies, sore throats and sinus infections are going around.

Our doctors and nurses in Sapulpa at the Muscogee Creek Nation Department of Health say sinus infections are a problem right now.

Dr. Kathryn Zackery says sinus infections can cause headaches and fever, facial pressure, swelling around the eyes, as well as dental pain.

See a doctor, if symptoms last a week or more.

Kim Hicks Jenkins in Okmulgee and Dr. David Smith in Eufaula are seeing lots of sore throats and coughing.

Sore throats can be caused by a viral infection, strep, sinus drainage, or allergies.

Go see your doctor if your sore throat lasts longer than a week, if you develop a rash, a fever higher than 101, joint pain or swelling in the neck.

Dr. Jim Harjo, at the Koweta Indian Health Facility says his patients are complaining of allergies.

When you have allergies, it's not uncommon to feel tired and fatigued, have sneezing and congestion, as well as itchy eyes and nose.

For mild allergy symptoms over the counter anti-histamines and a nasal saline spray work well, however, if it is severe, a nasal steroid and prescribed medication should work.

Dr. Billy Beets at the Okemah Indian Health Center says lots of his patients have colds. Symptoms are similar to allergies but you may also have a low grade fever, and a mild cough.

If your symptoms last longer than two weeks, go see the doctor.
