The Tulsa Police Department hosted the first leg of this year's Law Enforcement Torch Run to benefit the Special Olympics' Oklahoma Summer Games.

Police officers began the run in downtown Tulsa early Wednesday carrying the "flame of hope" westward along Charles Page Boulevard.

Officers then passed the torch to Sand Springs Police officers.

The torch is being carried by various law enforcement agencies along the way until it reaches Stillwater for the Special Olympics games' opening ceremonies Wednesday evening.

Tulsa County Sheriff's Office will conclude the last leg of the annual torch run carrying the torch into Stillwater's Special Olympics Village.

Tulsa County deputies will accept the torch in Yale on Highway 51 and finish the run in Stillwater.
