Police in Sand Springs are investigating claims that two high school athletes sexually assaulted a teammate. Now, the two Charles Page High School students could face disciplinary action.

The investigation has been ongoing since last month and now investigators are conducting a forensic interview with the male victim to see if any foul play occurred.

"Some have categorized this as horseplay others have said this is a sexual assault, so it's our job to go in and figure out the truth," said Mike Carter with the Sand Springs Police Department.

The Sand Springs Police Department learned of a possible sexual assault at one of Charles Page High School's athletic facilities two weeks ago.

Since then, police have been interviewing a male athlete who, police say, made claims he was sexually assaulted by two teammates.

"We've been working with the schools to determine what they know; they've been cooperating, produce information aiding in this investigation," Carter said.

Sand Springs Superintendent, Lloyd Snow, said when his office learned of the incident he immediately started his own internal investigation. He said the school is trying to determine if this is hazing or something criminal.

Snow said the sexual assault claims are very serious and the students involved are facing disciplinary action, but are still in school.

Because the students are all underage, little information is being released by police and school officials, but police said they haven't interviewed the suspects.

"We don't want our general public to think that we have a random person trying to sexually assault people at the school," Carter said. "I don't think it's that situation for people to have that fear, but we're going to continue with this."

The Sand Springs Police Department said after the investigation wraps up it will be handed over to the District Attorney's Office to determine whether criminal charges will be filed.
