The powerhouse upper level low continues to spin across the central high plains today.  The northwest flow around the back side of this feature will bring cooler air, some clouds, and a few showers into the northern portion of the state today.  No severe weather will occur.  This cool down will continue for most of the week before warming into the weekend.

For the second day in a row severe weather occurred for some of our neighbors across the mid-south from Mississippi, Alabama, and part of Tennessee.  And unfortunately another round of very strong to severe thunderstorms, including tornadoes, will occur again today across the southern U.S.

Our weather pattern, while continuing to be active regarding sensible weather, will be calm regarding severe weather.  This pattern will bring another spoke of energy into the state today helping to develop some weak showers.  The data does not support very much instability or elevated cape, and we're doubtful that any lightning will occur.  The clouds may have a dark "look" but the activity will not be severe.  The higher coverage of spotty showers will more than likely occur across the northern half of the state into southern Kansas.  A few early morning sprinkles will zip across the southern third of Oklahoma but this activity will quickly diminish.

Later tonight into Wednesday morning the powerful upper level system will begin to lift northeast away from the region.  Wednesday morning will support temperatures in the lower 40s for the morning hours.  Daytime highs will stay in the upper 50s to near 60.

Thursday into Friday should feature temperatures below the seasonal average with lows in the upper 30s and lower 40s and highs in the 60s.  Friday may support a high near 70 to 75, but warmer air will be likely this weekend.  Saturday's highs should reach the upper 70s to near 80 with Sunday possibly in the mid-80s.

The pattern will shift by the end of the week and should allow another surface boundary to move near the area Monday, but the lack of low level moisture will preclude any pops at the moment for this period. This front may not move into the area until early next week.  Quality low level moisture from the Gulf will not arrive back across the state until sometime next week.

The official high in Tulsa yesterday was 74 recorded at 2:43pm.

The normal daily average high is 75 and the low is 54.

Our daily records include a high of 92 from 1987 and a low of 38 from 1969.

You'll find me on Facebook and Twitter.

I'll be on a number of Radio Oklahoma News Network affiliates through the morning hours, and a number of Clear Channel Radio stations in the Tulsa metro.
