Two people were robbed by a man whose getaway vehicle was a mountain bike overnight Saturday. It happened at about 1:30 a.m. outside the Tulsa Select Hotel, 5000 East Skelly Drive.

Police say two men were in the parking lot of the Mohawk Ballroom at the hotel, unloading equipment from their car for upcoming event. A man approached them asking for a cigarette, then robbed them.

"He pulled out a .45 handgun and told them to give him their wallets or he'd blast them," said Corporal Jerrod Hart of the Tulsa Police Department.

The robber got away with one wallet but no cash, according to the victims. The man took off on a mountain bike he had stashed nearby, police say. The suspect went southbound on Darlington and then east on 47th Place.

Police believe the suspect, described a man in his 20s, about 6' tall with dreadlocks, lives nearby. They said there are several apartment complexes he could have entered, but they were actively searching for him early Saturday.

If you can help them find the suspect, call Crime Stoppers at 918-596-COPS.
